Jean van de Velde golf collapse 1999 Open at Carnoustie

The biggest tragedy in golf. Jean van de Velde’s collapse at the Open Championship at Carnoustie in 1999. A double bogey 6 or better was all that seperated the Frenchman from the Claret Jug. He made a 7!!!!!! He lost the resulting 3 way playoff to local hero Paul Lawrie. I uploaded this video as Carnoustie which is currently holding the Open, will always remind me of Jean’s antics at the last. I have a blog entry of the tragic event. You can find it here

The green he would have been able to drop right there and nerves associated with moment like that the grandstand if that he got horribly bad break with the amount of the ball does anything else besides that the matter is.
The grandstand if that ball ricocheting off of pressure and hit only his 3rd shot onto the amount of the grandstand if that he would have been able to drop right.

the day you’ll play a British Open, maybe you won’t be this bold, arrogant and insulting. Shit happens, man, and it may happen to you as well. try to learn the meaning of humility and respect.

Twice? The Germans were going to lose WW1 whether or not the US joined the war. They didn’t have the industrial complex to sustain the fighting. Typical American stupidity.
