Golf Bags: Tips on Making the Right Choice

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009
golf bag
Lyle Richards asked:

The main kinds of golf bags are cart bags, carry bags, staff bags and travel bags.

If you like to walk, then carry bags are for you. These bags don’t weigh too much and are the ideal option if you want to stroll from one part of the golf course to another. Such bags are usually composed canvas, plastic, or nylon. They are simple and small. They can be used to carry basic clubs, balls, tees and perhaps a towel or two. You can get a stand for these bags as well. This way, you can keep your bag upright while you’re taking your turn.

These days, cart bags are the most popular kind of bag. These bags are perfect for putting on the back of a golf cart. This kind of bag is not the right choice if you’re a walker though. They are made for carrying all the clubs a golfer possesses. They fit neatly on the frame of a hand-pushed cart. The extra space in these bags is a great help. Not only can you bring all your golf clubs, there’s space enough for a pair of shoes and some towels as well. An empty cart bag is fairly light, but a full one can be a strain on your back.

Professional golfers prefer to use what is known as a staff bag. These bags have great capacity. You can literally fit every kind of golf club conceivable into them. Believe it or not, you can put up to 14 golf clubs in a staff bag, and still have space for anything else you might need on the golf course. They are designed to be easy to carry and can be carried by your caddy. However, considering the weight and size of the bag, golfers usually keep them on a golf cart. The greatest advantage of these bags is that you can take everything you need onto the course at one time.

Pockets are must on your golf bag. The more pockets they have, the better it is. Just think of all the things you need to carry! Golf clubs, golf balls, extra tees, towels, a divot tool, an umbrella, they’re all useful things you might need. So it makes sense to have pockets on your bag where you can keep these things.

A hood on your bag might be useful. After all, if it rains, you don’t want your clubs getting wet. So if you find a bag with a hood on it, it might be a smart buy.

You should make sure your golf bag is well compartmentalized. If it’s not, the golf clubs will be battling it out for space in there and the grips will get worn down. Separate compartments for each club will help to keep your bag organized.

Another factor you should keep in mind is the stand. Given a choice between a bag that comes with a stand and one that doesn’t come with a stand, go for the former. This will allow you to conveniently pick out a club while the bag is standing.

Don’t forget the style factor either. You want to look good and feel good. You bag reflects on you. The colors, shapes, and design should suit your tastes.

So if you’re thinking about getting into golf, you have to get yourself the right kind of golf bag. It’s a must. Buy the right back and enjoy your golf without putting a strain on your back. You can start with a simple carry-bag and can progress to staff bag with time.

Golf Travel Bags To Protect Your Clubs

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

Mike Pedersen asked:

Have you ever felt a bit apprehensive when you threw your clubs into your trunk and wondered if the bag was enough to keep them secure during the journey? After all, your golf bag and clubs can suffer plenty stresses and movement during a drive. A lot depends on the terrain, but even a bit of sharp braking can cause a bit of damage.

Golf travel bags can be the answer to this. Golf travel bags are designed to protect your golf clubs and the rest of your golfing equipment during transit. With the right golf travel bag, there should be no chance of your clubs getting damaged in your trunk.

Golf Travel Bags Protect Against the Baggage Handlers

What about the airport? Do you travel the circuits? Or do you take your clubs with on vacation? Whichever, you probably rely on airport baggage handlers to be gentle with your golf bag. Think on! Do you really think baggage handlers are going to give golf clubs any more consideration than any other piece of luggage?

What you need is a golf travel bag. Golf travel bags provide all the protection you need while traveling. The type of travel bag you purchase depends upon the type and amount of travel you do, but you can be sure that golfer who do not protect their clubs with a golf travel bag while driving or flying are asking for problems.

Secure Your Clubs

Some golf bags are specially designed to hold your clubs secure in the bag during normal use, and these will at least provide some degree of protection when traveling in that the clubs will not move around as much as those held loosely in an ordinary golf bag. However, most golfers do not have this option, and rely either on themselves driving carefully, on baggage handlers being gentle (?) or aircraft hold baggage not moving much during the flight. Would you feel happy relying on any one of these, especially if your clubs cost a few hundred, or even a few thousand, dollars?

Don’t Travel Without Your Golf Travel Bag

If you travel, you definitely need to consider using golf travel bags. There are a number of designs available, though the main tones are soft cover, hard cover or a combination of these. The hard shell golf travel bags cost more, but provide the highest degree of protection. Although the soft cover golf travel bags do not offer total protection, they cost less and can be used as regular carry bags during the round. Your golf bag can therefore also be your travel bag.

If you play golf regularly and travel frequently, either between courses on the golf circuit or simply to avoid the familiarity of playing the4 same courses time, you should consider purchasing one of the golf travel bags which is most relevant to your needs. Not only will it [protect your equipment, but will give you peace of mind while traveling.

How to Choose a Golf Bag

Friday, February 20th, 2009
golf bag
Mike Robinson asked:

If you are going to be serious about playing golf, your golf bag is an important area you should not skimp on. If you ride in a cart most of the time, the importance of a golf bag is diminished, but if you are going to carry your clubs, you want a bag that makes a pleasure.

There are varieties of golf bags. A tour bag is the giant leather model you probably have seen professionals on TV. It has lots of big pockets to carry a full rain-suit and any other extra goodies. A typical tour bag could weight more than 50 pounds.

The next size down from a tour bag is a cart bag. Cart bags are not quite as big as tour bags, but they are a little bulky for the average golfer who is going to carry clubs and play at the same time. These bags are usually made of leather and designed to be used on a ride cart.

If you play and carry the clubs at the same time, you may consider a travel or carry bag. A travel or carry bag is much smaller and lighter than a full size bag. A carry bag can fit all of your clubs and some small accessories. Most carry bags are made from plastic and nylon.

Carry bags vary in size, quality, and price. You can buy a tiny, three-quarters-size carry bag for a child, or you can get a deluxe model with plenty of pockets and a special backpack-type strap that goes over both shoulders. You can find golf bags for $60 at discount golf shops, but these at low end.  You get what you pay for. They only have the very basic features and a few pocket and often they aren’t very comfortable to carry. If you’re only going to play once or twice in a year, then this kind of bag is sufficient. If you’re willing to pay more than $100, you can get a high-quality, light carry bag. It is easy to take clubs in and out and will stand on its own when you put it down.

Of course, the more you’re willing to spend, the more elaborate the bags can get. The backpack strap is a great feature that moves the weight from one shoulder and spreads it out over both. It makes carrying your bag much more comfortable.

When you’re looking for a bag, keep in mind the features that will be most important to you and make sure the bag has them. If you have lots of little accessories that you like to carry with you on the course, you’ll need a bag with lots of pockets. If you like to carry your street shoes in your bag as you play, you’ll need a bag with at least one relatively large pocket. Again, you can get as many features on a bag as you like, but at some point you start to sacrifice room and size for weight. A carry bag is designed for to just that, a bag that’s easy to carry.

Choosing the Ideal Golf Travel Bag

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Ajeet Khurana asked:

Golf travel bags are a delight to any golfer and they serve many purposes. The golf travel bag is a piece of equipment that is necessary for every golfer. It is wise to buy these bags from authorized dealers. This would be a more sensible decision, especially if you want to make a quality purchase. Golf bags for travel are available in various designs. When choosing such a bag, make sure that the design you choose will help in storing all your golf items.

You can pick up bags with wheels if you so desire. These are especially great for outdoor purposes. When choosing a bag you have to make sure that it is going to be worth your investment. The best place to visit to get these bags would be online shopping sites. The best of these sites, will allow you to get a glimpse of all the latest stuff available in the markets. You can also choose from among the various brands that are available. Some of the more popular brands are D and D and Golfsmith. Choosing a good brand will also speak volumes about your position in your team.

Most online shopping sites have golf travel bags listed according to prices. This is a great thing as it makes the process of selection easier for the buyer. It even makes it easier for a buyer to find some exciting discounts. If you do not have sufficient money to pay for that super-expensive bag outright, you can also buy the bags on installments. At least you won’t be feeling like a pauper by the end of it.

When choosing a golf travel bag, you need to pick good designs. Some of the most basic and popular golf travel bag styles are quick trip and caravan, among others. Which style you choose would vary according to the type of tournament you are choosing to attend. Expect to be spoilt for choice when it comes to colors. Overall there is much to choose from.

You would also have to purchase good covers for your travel bag. Again, this would have to be selected according to your specific requirements. A lot of designer wear is available for golf travel bags. Although much of this is very expensive, if you look around extensively you should find some with reasonable price tags.

You can pick up good golf travel bags for prices ranging from 100 USD to 400 USD. It will all depend on how often you play the game. Also, remember that when you need to pick one, it should be on par with the bags of the other players that you play with. If you do not have an idea as to what kind of a bag you should choose, take the help of someone who is a well-versed golfer.

Get a bag that is ideal for all sessions. You may use have to use it extensively for practice sessions, games, and tournaments of all kinds. A good bag could go a long way in making your game more comfortable. A good golf travel bag would be essential in a game like golf.
